Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area Events in March

Rio SaladoHave you, or have you been meaning to, visit the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area yet? Enjoy Phoenix's great spring weather by getting outside with your fellow Cubexers, friends, and family to help preserve this urban riparian gem in the desert.

Less than 10 miles from Cubex HQ, the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area's 595 acres stretch along five miles of the Salt River just 1.5 miles south of downtown Phoenix.

Rio Salado

Once a dump site, the Rio Salado (Spanish for Salt River) is now a lush riparian corridor with five miles of paved and dirt trails. Since 2005, over 76,000 trees and shrubs were planted in the restoration to replace 138,572 cubic yards of waste and 1,185 tons of tires (NOT a typo) which were removed from the once dried up river bed.

Home to the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center, it is no wonder bird watchers have spotted more than 200 species of birds (and counting...) in the Rio Salado's varied habitats from wetland ponds to mesquite to cottonwood/willow forest.

In March, we have two opportunities to help preserve this special place and habitat for both people and critters alike (plus an opportunity for remote employees to impact their community). Choose a 2 or 4 hour event option or pack a lunch and spend the whole day! Pick the event that works best for you and bring the family!

Contact Laura Brown to sign up for either event or for additional information.
