In our continued efforts to reduce our impact on the environment, CUBEX now partners with Phoenix's Recycled City to step up our office composting while giving back to our community. 

In the past month, we have collected OVER 50 pounds of compostable waste. This consists of mostly things like coffee grounds and fruit waste for a backyard composting system. But, it's time to step it up. Recycled City is a local company that collects commercial and residential waste for composting and turns it into nutrient rich soil. This soil will then be donated to our community gardens to help address the food desert issues in our area:

As the fires continue in Australia and news reports continue to fill minds and thoughts with images and details of the  unrelenting devastation, we can, at times, feel helpless with the unconscionable sum of homes lost, lives lost, firefighters put at risk, animal populations depleted, if not destroyed, and habitat loss, ensuring future animal loss. 

Get your hands dirty and do something good for nature this fall! Join One Tree Planted and the Arizona State University Arboretum in planting trees at Arizona State University! Help plant trees in honor of the new campus tree tour map launch. 

Ever wonder if what you are recycling is actually recyclable? Or what you are throwing out in the trash to go to the landfill could actually be recycled? Did you know juice boxes and plastic coffee cups do go in the recycle bin? Did you know straws and thermal receipts don't? Then there's bubble wrap. That is soft plastic and that's another story. That goes in a separate soft plastic recycle bin with things like grocery bags. Not knowing can make your head spin! 

CUBEX® is now a Platinum Certified City of Phoenix Green Business Leader, recognized as a Phoenix business dedicated to sustainability. We are again, honored to be a part of this important initiative.

We are excited to announce that CUBEX® is now a City of Phoenix Green Business Leader, recognized as a Phoenix business dedicated to sustainability. We are honored to be a part of this important initiative. 

The City of Phoenix Green Business Leader Program recognizes and promotes businesses that volunteer to operate in a more environmentally responsible manner through sustainable actions. This program started through the Re-imagine Phoenix initiative, which is the city's public goal to increase its waste diversion rate to 40 percent by 2020.

The E-Waste (Electronic Waste) and Metal Recycling Program led by Ryan West, aims to divert e-waste and metals from the landfill to be, instead, recycled or refurbished. Each quarter, Ryan coordinates this initiative for Cubex® to help reduce our impact on the environment. 

The company we partner with for our E-waste and metal recycling is ER2. They are a Phoenix based company that also focuses on helping the community. One of the programs they run from their facility is collecting discarded computers and refurbish them for reuse. They have programs to help get computers to schools, families, and individuals that may not be able to afford a computer otherwise.

The Green Team has been busy working towards getting Cubex® closer to becoming a City of Phoenix Green Business Leader. Our goal is to become Gold Level Certified by the end of 2019. Each initiative the Green Team members launch earns Cubex® points toward this certification.

DIY Natural Cleaners

Green cleaning is, in essence, cleaning using products and procedures that are safe for the environment and do not emit any pollutants when used. Green cleaning is important not only for the environment and our planet, but for the health of the general public.

Paper Reduction Initiative

A paper"less" office is a work environment in which the use of paper is eliminated or greatly reduced. Going paperless can save money, boost productivity, save space, make documentation and information sharing easier, keep personal information more secure, and make for a more eco-friendly office. We have a large employee base that are remote or travel and paper is an outdated and ineffective tool to exchange information for Cubex®.
